ANGELS | ADVANCED NATIONAL GERIATRIC LIFE SUPPORT WORKSHOP August 2023

SOCIETY FOR EMERGENCY MEDICINE INDIA (SEMI), along with DrK Eldercare of Dr.Kamakshi Memorial Hospital, has conducted ANGELS - 2023 ADVANCED NATIONAL GERIATRIC LIFE SUPPORT WORKSHOP at Dr.KAMAKSHI MEMORIAL HOSPITALS, Pallikaranai, Chennai.

In emergency medicine, every second counts, and lives are saved. SEMI plays a vital role in shaping the field of emergency medicine by organizing seminars, conferences, and training programs. This workshop at Dr.Kamakshi Memorial Hospital brings together experts from various disciplines all over India to share their knowledge and experiences. This workshop aims at enhancing the skills and elevating the care offered to the elderly population.

The workshop was headed by Dr.Sai Surendar, HOD - Emergency Department Dr.KMH, VP - SEMI, South Zone, preceded Dr.T.G. Govindarajan [Founder, Managing Director, Chairman] and Dr. T. G. Sivaranjani Govindarajan [Director Finance & Operations], Dr. Prof. Radhakrishnan [Advisor], Dr.Priyanka Rana Patgiri [Head, Dr.K Eldercare].

Dr.Srinath Kumar ( Group Head Emergency Department Yashoda Hospitals ), Dr.Rajadurai (National Secretary SEMI ), and Dr.Saravanavel ( President SEMI Tamilnadu ) were the chief guests for the event and shared their experience with Geriatric Emergencies. The workshop was designed to serve emergency medicine physicians and other healthcare providers involved in acute care settings where they frequently encounter elderly patients. The workshop focuses on the unique challenges associated with caring for older adults, including age-related changes in physiology, multiple comorbidities, and specific geriatric syndromes.

Participants were seasoned emergency medicine professionals, beginners in the specialty, and students.
