The Cardiology team is headed by Prof. Dr. P. Thirumalai who has vast experience in Interventional Cardiology. He is one of the senior most Cardiologists in the city and was Professor & Head of the Department of Cardiology at Madras Medical College.
The Cardiac Cath Lab was commenced on 8th June 2005. All cardiac procedures including Angiograms, Angioplasties & stenting, Balloon Mitral Valvotomy, Cerebral Angiograms, Peripheral Angiograms, and Pacemaker Implantation etc. are being performed with 100% success result.
The department is also proud to inform that it has also undertaken a fair number of PTCA procedures for acute heart attacks and thus saved many lives.
The GE Innova Flat panel machine with spin that is being used is one of the best machines available in the country. This is to ensure good clarity pictures and excellent results.
The success rate of these procedures has been almost 100%. All the procedures are cost effective and affordable to cater all strata of people.
